We, the members of the Network for Critical Migration and Border Regime Research (kritnet) stand in solidarity with our colleagues at the Central European University. We demand that the Hungarian Government withdraws the proposed amendments to Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education. This bill would „make it impossible for the University to continue its operations as an institution of higher education in Budapest“, as CEU declares. „[T]he proposed legislation targets CEU directly and is therefore discriminatory and unacceptable“.We oppose these violations of academic autonomy and call for solidarity within and beyond the scientific community.
